Silk + Mink

January 9, 2012

Top: Parker Slit Wrap Top in Cream (here in orange; shop similar here and here) Vest: Forever 21 (shop similar here and here) Bottoms: Loft (old) Boots: Michael Kors (old)

A few pre-new camera photos taken the week before Christmas on the LES in between a delicious meal and drinks at new-er NYC restaurant Prima and a show at Pianos - what I like to call a true NYC night!  It’s important to note that I did not arrive home until almost 1am that morning thus lasting in these heeled boots for almost 16 hours with my feet feeling almost 100%, even at the end (shame on me for not capturing the heel in a photo).  I don’t know how I did it but it certainly was a new record to say the least.

I got this sweet faux fur vest in my mad dash for Forever 21 online deals on Black Friday. I love that it’s long and not as puffy as many other fur vests. I couldn’t wait to wear it with this new blouse that I watched like a hawk on Piperlime to go on sale. The blouse was a little risque to wear to work on it’s own so this vest was the perfect “shield.”

I have been snagging a ton of deals on Parker lately on Piperlime…and it’s made me super happy since it’s my FAVORITE brand.

Nautical Night

October 6, 2011

Last Tuesday, my whirlwind continued with a 9am flight out of Chicago back to my lovely little apartment in Hoboken where I hadn’t been since the previous Thursday AM.  I was obviously thrilled to be home and not having to lug my monstrous suitcase around but I had to put in a few hours of work, remember to eat and get dolled up because I was off to the ballet with my girlfriends that evening.  I was happy that I had an outfit already planned and ready to go from my trip and the nautical inspired shirt worked out so ironically since we were seeing the new, limited time engagement of “Ocean’s Kingdom” with music composed by Paul McCartney.  I know the pink cupcake skirt and bun were probably a bit stereotypical like a little girl going to the ballet for the first time but I loved the look none the less!

Stella McCartney designed the costumes for the ballet and let me tell you, it was unbelievable to see the couture-like pieces in motion on the dancers.  I smell a Stella and dancewear collaboration soon – maybe with Capezio?!

Outfit details:

Top: Loft

Skirt: Blaque Label via Lulu’s

Shoes: Aldo

Necklace: Jessie James

Lips: Nuance lipstick in Nude

And last but not least, a shot of my girlfriends on the David H. Koch theater balcony on the beautiful night!

Neons + Neutral: Kristina’s BDIB Post

June 16, 2011

We are excited that we finally took pictures in time for Pretty Shiny Sparkly’s Bloggers Do It Better assignment and hopefully, our posts will make it into the Pretty Shiny Sparkly assignment post!

This was fairly easy to throw together for me with my new JCREW chino shorts in Shocking Pink. I am always looking for unique items to pair with the shorts and this challenge definitely gave me inspiration to pick items I wouldn’t normally put together.  In fact, blogging and following other bloggers like Kristina from PSS and Kendi from Kendi everyday has altogether really helped me expand my style.  I am very preppy and strict with my outfits in nature (e.g. this shirt goes with this skirt or these pants) and I need to start being more creative.

Back to my outfit.  The sheer button down is from Ann Taylor Loft and I purchased because I thought it would look cute with my wide leg jeans (see, what I mean about my narrow minded outfits?).  Then to complete, I wore my new nude Diba mini wedge sandals that I got from DSW (total score), my Let Them Eat Cake purse from our find back in early May and piled on some jewelry. In order to help fix thee above stated problem, I have put all of my jewelry out on my nightstand on a few different stands so that its always visible and I actually put it on instead of admiring it in my big ‘ol dresser drawer.  I think its working

Last but not least, I wanted to point out my manicure because my nails have NEVER been this long in my entire life and I am very proud of it!  The color is Tart Deco from Essie but I am attributing their awesome length and sturdiness to Quinica Alemana Nail Hardener. I first started getting it at my nail salon but I bought my own because I was sick of the salon charging me $1/manicure to use it when you can find it on Amazon or Ebay for less than $10.  As I started using it regularly, I noticed such a change in my nails and will probably never go without it!

I hope you liked my take on Neons + Neutrals – check out Jess’s outfit later today!

JCREW vs Loft: Black Skinny Face Off

June 15, 2011

It’s no secret, to anyone that knows us personally, that we are obsessed with JCREW’s Minnie pant.  Over time, we have noticed that Loft comes out with pieces similar to that of JCREW and the latest item we found were the Motocross Ponte pant, resembling the Minnie with their skinny shape and piecing at the knee.

The Loft Motocross Ponte Pant are made of Nylon, Rayon and Spandex and are priced at $59.99/$69.  They zip at ankles, and have a front zip with zip pockets detail

The JCREW Minnie Pant are Cotton/Elastane with a side zip and retail for $79.50. The black never goes on sale but it does come in other other select colors that do. And JCREW often offers 20% discounts making the price between the two relatively similar.

Winner of this Faceoff: JCREW Minnies. We think the side zip is the key to keep this style super flattering.
