Nautical Night

October 6, 2011

Last Tuesday, my whirlwind continued with a 9am flight out of Chicago back to my lovely little apartment in Hoboken where I hadn’t been since the previous Thursday AM.  I was obviously thrilled to be home and not having to lug my monstrous suitcase around but I had to put in a few hours of work, remember to eat and get dolled up because I was off to the ballet with my girlfriends that evening.  I was happy that I had an outfit already planned and ready to go from my trip and the nautical inspired shirt worked out so ironically since we were seeing the new, limited time engagement of “Ocean’s Kingdom” with music composed by Paul McCartney.  I know the pink cupcake skirt and bun were probably a bit stereotypical like a little girl going to the ballet for the first time but I loved the look none the less!

Stella McCartney designed the costumes for the ballet and let me tell you, it was unbelievable to see the couture-like pieces in motion on the dancers.  I smell a Stella and dancewear collaboration soon – maybe with Capezio?!

Outfit details:

Top: Loft

Skirt: Blaque Label via Lulu’s

Shoes: Aldo

Necklace: Jessie James

Lips: Nuance lipstick in Nude

And last but not least, a shot of my girlfriends on the David H. Koch theater balcony on the beautiful night!

Striped Wonder

July 15, 2011

I was initially weary of this week’s Bloggers Do It Better assignment involving maxi skirts. When the trend first appeared, I just couldn’t picture myself in a full length skirt. I was afraid it wouldn’t work well with my body type BUT I now report back that my first maxi experience was a success! My first (and only) maxi is Anthropologie’s Seemingly Maxi. I love the nautical stripes and I decided to pair the skirt with a bright pink JCREW tank to keep it nice and summery. Next up, I am going try to it with a graphic tee for a more edgy look. If all goes well, look for a follow-up post!

-Jessica

P.S. I apologize for my lack of photography skills like Kristina! I am saving to invest in a new camera!
